Michael MHK calls public meeting over land swap

Michael MHK Alf Cannan

Michael MHK Alf Cannan has called another public meeting to discuss the ongoing Kirk Michael land swap disagreement.

In a statement released by Mr Cannan he said he had had the opportunity to review new plans submitted by Heritage Homes, in respect of the land swap deal at Michael School.

It follows an agreement last year where the Department of Education and Children agreed to swap some land at the site which would allow access to a new housing development.

Last month the plans were turned down after an independent planning inspector’s recommendation and led the developers to resubmit a further planning application.

Mr Cannan has accused Heritage Homes of paying "lip service” to the recommendations of the report and said there were no substantial changes to the original proposal.

A public meeting will now take place on May 9th at 7.30pm in St Michael’s Hall to offer the residents of Kirk Michael the chance to air their views.
