An illegal immigrant who applied for asylum in the UK but later came to the Isle of Man has been told he can't stay in either country.
The man, known only as JJ, arrived illegally in the UK 2014 and had an asylum application turned down in 2023 - which he'd appealed against.
But he was stopped by immigration in July and refused entry to the Isle of Man, and his appeal was considered abandoned because he'd left the UK.
In a judgment, first-tier tribunal Judge Boyes said the man had clearly left the UK, Common Travel Area rules didn't apply because he wasn't an EU citizen and so the Isle of Man and UK had been right to refuse entry.
