A Castletown man will be sentenced next month after spitting in a police officer's face.
36-year-old Michael John Kewley, of Malew Street, appeared at Douglas Courthouse this week where he pleaded guilty to assaulting the female cop.
On December 23rd police were called to The British on Douglas Quay - Kewley had phoned 999 claiming he'd been assaulted by door staff.
He was said to be "highly intoxicated" and became verbally abusive to staff and police - he was arrested but refused to get into the police van.
Officers used PAVA incapacitant spray to try and restrain him although the court was told this made no difference to his behaviour - he then spat at the officer.
At a previous court hearing Kewley admitted being drunk and disorderly and resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty - he'll be sentenced for all offences on March 21st.
Social enquiry reports have been requested - Kewley has been bailed until that date.
