The Island's shipping register is reminding owners and operators of their safety duties in a new report.
The Isle of Man Ship Registry has published its Port State Control analysis for the first quarter of this year after inspections on Manx-flagged vessels.
It says there are three main areas of concern - fire safety, emergency systems and life-saving appliances.
The organisation says fire safety was its biggest concern with bulk carriers, and several vessels had emergency generators that failed to auto-start during testing.
