Island must 'improve its social offering' to keep younger population, says committee

The Island must 'improve its social offering,' to retain the younger population.

That's the recommendation from the Select Committee on Population Rebalance as part of a new report.

Figures shown in the report say that over the last two censuses, for every three 20-24 year olds moving to the Island, between eight and ten have moved away.

The committee says it's 'evident the Island lacks the same degree of social vibrancy' as places in neighbouring jurisdictions.

It adds that the government's Built Environment Reform Programme may have a role to play in this area.
