A plastic bag tax is being considered by government - but detailed proposals are still some way off.
In the House of Keys this week, Middle MHK Bill Shimmins wanted to know whether the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture was going to follow in the UK's footsteps with a levy on disposable bags.
Departmental member Tim Baker said a team of civil servants were looking into the issue:
