The government says all teachers will get a pay rise of between eight and 11.9 per cent in December - after the largest union on the Island said its members have lost 30 per cent in the past 12 years.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says four out of five unions, roughly 30 per cent of teachers and lecturers, have agreed the pay deal.
The pay increase will be backdated to September 1 arrears being paid as a lump sum next February.
Education Minster Julie Edge says the award is higher than an English pay review body recommended.
In October, the government's data showed inflation stood at 10.1 per cent.
The NASUWT union still plans to strike on Wednesday and Thursday, meaning most students won't be going to school.
