Douglas Inherits Sizeable Donation in Bizarre Will Request
In a charitable gesture from beyond the grave Douglas Town has received a sizeable donation from an unknown Scottish man, simply because he shared the same name.
When Eric Gordon Douglas passed away recently he stipulated in his will that he wanted his £220,000 fortune to be spread out around 20 towns which share his surname.
Of course Douglas in the Isle of Man benefited from the bizarre bequest, as did Douglas in Ontario Canada and Douglas in Queensland Australia to name but a few.
The cheques totaling nearly £11,000 have now been sent out to the twenty towns.
Mr
Douglas left no indication of how he wants the money to be spent although early
talk from the town hall is that it will be spent on a number of new town
benches in his honour.
