Airport TT figures are the best in the last five years

The airport’s confirmed a 4% increase in TT passenger traffic compared to last year - it’s largest number in five years.

More than 41,100 passengers used Ronaldsway between May 27 and June 10 compared to 39,800 in 2011. However, this is still down around 2,200 on the centenary year in 2007.

Overall there were about 3,000 less seats available during the two weeks, as there was no Southampton service, fewer Luton flights and the new British Airways service to London City only started with one flight each day on May 28.

Airport director Ann Reynolds said that the weather did prevent some smaller aircraft travelling to the Island and subsequent aircraft movement was down nearly 14%, this means on average the planes servicing Ronaldsway are getting bigger and carrying more people.
