Winter Weather Causing Chaos Across Island

The weather is causing chaos across the Island today.

 

The Manx electricity authority have told 3FM that several properties are currently off in the Barony area in Maughold.

 

Parts of East Baldwin to Laxey including Baldrine are without power. That was off this morning, was restored and has since gone off again.

 

We have been informed that engineers are on the scene.

 

Any customers who are having problems are being asked to call the MEA on 687687.

 

On the roads The Mountain Road is still closed from the Creg Ny Baa to Ramsey hairpin.

 

The Creg Ny Baa Back Road is closed off.

 

The Roundtable's shut where it meets the junction of the shoulder Road and Ballakillowey.

 

The Sloc and Ballamodha are shut.

 

The Coast road from Ramsey Hairpin to Rencell Hill, Laxey and from Minorca Hill Laxey to Ballure Grove.

 

Access to and from the North, including Ramsey, is still available via Kirk Michael.

 

There was a tree down on the Old Castletown Road at the junction of the road to Port Grenaugh.  There was another tree down Ballasalla side of the Grenaby Road leading to Ballabeg

 

Two buses are stuck at the Dhoon. Passengers are getting lifts into Ramsey by smaller vehicles.

Others roads are treacherous to drive on so motorists are being advised to take extreme caution.
