Police say more than one in three vehicles stopped last night had some sort of minor problem.
Officers set up a roadside checkpoint at Ramsey Hairpin as part of Operation Uplift, which checks if vehicles are ready for winter.
Of 35 vehicles stopped, 13 had problems with lights or tyres and were given Vehicle Defect Rectification Notices.
Two vehicles were out of tax - and officers seized one when they discovered it was almost a year out of date.
