Wind farm could cut bills by 15% and pay for all primary schools

The company behind a planned windfarm off the Island's east coast says the project could see people's electricity bills slashed by up to 15 per cent.

Ørsted, which is hoping to build turbines in Manx waters, says it's carried out an analysis of the benefits for Island residents.

The firm says under a long-term power purchasing agreement using an existing interconnector, residents would see bill reductions of 10 to 15 per cent a year.

And it says the 87 Mooar Vannin turbines would pay up to £60 million tax and rent a year - enough to pay for every Island primary school.
