The severe gales caused by the storm that battered the Island earlier this week were the most powerful in any October on record.
Ronaldsway Met Office says winds caused by Hurricane Ophelia on Monday were the strongest the Island has seen for over two years.
Weather forecasters recorded a highest gust of 78mph - with previous October records being maximum 77mph in 1984.
A maximum gust of 94mph was recorded on the Mountain Road in the early evening.
