Warning over heath fires

If you're planning on burning healthland, let the Fire and Rescue Service know.

Firefighters say they've been called to a number of false alarms by people who've seen large fires in the countryside.

But the fires are simply controlled burns, and the emergency service is asking people planning to carry out burns to give it half an hour's notice.

Landowners only have a few days left as the season to burn heath runs out next week on Monday, March 5.
