Tynwald motion to improve school is rescheduled

Victoria Road Primary School

Plans to spend almost £3 million on improving Victoria Road Primary School in Castletown will no longer be heard in Tynwald today (Tuesday).

Education and Children Minister Peter Karran was due to put forward the motion on behalf of his department during April’s sitting.

However because of the Easter holidays the department has not had the opportunity to brief other Tynwald Members about the details of the proposed works.

Plans include the creation of two new classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, and community room as well as improved kitchen and dining facilities and better disabled access.

The department has said it wants Members to be fully briefed before they consider the proposal and therefore has deferred the motion until next month’s sitting.
