Two new MHKs elected following closely fought by-elections

Two new MHKs were elected into the House of Keys last night after two very closely fought battles for the Glenfaba and Peel seats.

Geoffrey Boot secured the Glenfaba seat, triumphing over David Talbot by just three votes with 424; he'll replace David Anderson.

In Peel, it was local commissioner Ray Harmer who secured 799 votes - beating fellow hopeful Leslie Hanson by 183 votes to take Tim Crookall's seat.

The men will hold their posts for a guaranteed 12-month period before the Island-wide general election - which will be held next September.
