A document released by the Treasury has shown there has been overspending within key government departments.
Central Government Summary Management Accounts revealed the budget and spending of departments for the first three months of the current financial year.
The Department for Education, Sport and Culture, the Department for Enterprise, the Department of Infrastructure, and the Department of Health and Social Care all spent in excess.
Treasury minister Dr Alex Allinson says this is because of staff pay and increases in the cost of supplies and services.
