Travel Consultative Group convene for first meeting

MHK Graham Cregeen, Chairman of the Group

The purpose of the group is to discuss all forms of transport to and from the Island and consider recommendations to the Minister for Infrastructure on aspects of services that can be improved.

The recently formed Travel Consultative Group have met for their first meeting.

The purpose of the group is to discuss all forms of transport to and from the Island and consider recommendations to the Minister for Infrastructure on aspects of services that can be improved.

The Group has been established on a trial basis following a recommendation by the Tynwald Select Committee in its report on the Steam Packet in 2008 and a public consultation earlier this year.

Things like taking an earlier flight without an additional charge, public information and perception of both the air and sea carriers as well as general issues such as credit card booking/transaction fees were all up for discussion.

The Group will meet again before the end of the year to discuss whether or not a travel consultative group should be established.
