Top police officers to be honoured at awards ceremony

Chief Constable Mike Langdon

Some of the Island’s most outstanding police officers will be acknowledged today, at the Chief Constable’s Annual Awards Ceremony.

The awards recognise officers, special constables, support staff and members of the public who have gone the extra mile.

Among those given out will be awards for long service and good conduct including one for the recently retired police dog Rosco who served the equivalent of 63 years in the force.

A number of Chief Constable’s Commendations will also be presented by the Lieutenant Governor. These recognise officers whose actions have saved lives - including one for officers who arrested a man in possession of an improvised explosive device.

Chief Constable Mike Langdon said that recognising achievements at a time of considerable change was particularly important.
