The Department of Infrastructure says it'll have extra staff on hand tonight - but won't grit higher roads just yet.
On Facebook it says it's ready to respond to fallen trees and flooding after a yellow weather warning was issued about Storm Chandra.
But it says despite the possibility of sleet or snow on high ground in the early hours, salting would be pointless because heavy rain expected earlier tonight would wash it away.
It says it will keep the situation under review.
