Stop cutting inappropriate areas of public spending, says ATL

Andrew Shipley, The Secretary of the Isle of Man's education union, ATL, has called on the politicians to stop proposing cuts in inappropriate areas of public spending.

In the statement he urged government to consider the long term implications of their actions, for example when the children affected by nursery closures progress onto secondary school, and how the physical and sexual health of our young people will suffer by reducing Health Education staff.

The union are urging government to find the money, delay the changes, and look at the issues carefully so that if changes come through they can be properly managed without the uncertainty and angst that is faced at present.
