There are no plans for to paint road markings in Manx in new 20mph zones.
Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas raised the issue with Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood in the House of Keys this week.
Dr Haywood said Manx language signage would go against her department's policies.
