Roadworks to cause disruption for motorists in Onchan

There could be significant disruption for motorists in Onchan over the coming weeks as major road works prepare to start.

The DoI says the work will begin on Monday, July 23 and will include upgrading of the traffic signals, foot-way reconstruction and carriageway refurbishments.

It’s hoped the works will improve traffic flow particularly when the Mountain Road is closed.

The first four-week phase will require a road closure of Avondale Road between Stoney Road and Main Road.

During this period access to and from businesses will be maintained, as will pedestrian access to all properties.

The department says that work will start on phase two of the scheme in early September.
