Retired Peel Man Put Behind Bars For Sexual Offences On Vulnerable Girls

Many Had Learning Difficulties

A retired Peel man has been put behind bars after pleading guilty to seven counts of indecent assault on young girls.

James Richard Fargher committed the offences on females aged from 8 to 20 years old.

Police say that the majority of his victims were vulnerable for a variety of reasons; some had learning difficulties, and he took advantage of this and sexually abused them.

This investigation has demonstrated that Fargher is a sexual bully who is a danger to females of any age, including young children.

All of the offences occurred between 2003 and 2008.

DCI Philip Shimmin told 3FM it was the courage of an 8 year old girl with learning difficulties who came forward that finally put an end to Farghers many years of abuse. (audio above)

The 67 year old has been sent to prison for four years was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of seven years and was also subject to a Sex Offenders Prevention Order for the same period.

Any Breach of these orders would mean a further five years in Prison for the Peel man.
