Residents urged to use local authority vote

Local residents are being encouraged to use their vote in next week’s local authority elections to help shape the future of their area.

12 local authorities will go to the polls next Thursday, April 26th, with 16 elections in total - double the amount of the last general election in 2008.

Commissioners will be elected in Andreas, Braddan, Castletown, Douglas, German, Laxey, Lezayre, Malew, Michael, Port Erin and Port St Mary and Ramsey.

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney said it was fantastic to see a marked increase in the number of contested elections as they could have a major impact on the Island’s future.
