Island residents will no longer record their organ donation decision when applying for a driving licence from next week.
As the Island moves towards an 'opt out' system for organ donation, residents will be asked to register their decision directly on the NHS Organ Donor Register from February 1.
The change comes after a review of organ donation records was carried out, with the government and NHS Blood and Transplant now aiming to merge up to 66,000 driving licence records with the central register.
The Human Tissue and Organ Donation Bill received Royal Assent and became an Act last year, with work now underway to implement the new law.
Minister for the Cabinet Office, Kate Lord-Brennan, says the hope is that the implementation of the Act will increase the number of available organ donors to address the shortage in the UK and Isle of Man.
