Infrastructure Minister Tim Baker says motorists will soon get used to the new roundabout designs on Douglas Promenade.
After social media users mocked concentric yellow ovals at the prom's junctions with Broadway and Church Road Marina, the Department of Infrastructure has released a statement.
It says the roundel should be driven in the same way as any roundabout, and will be subject to a 20mph speed limit.
Mr Baker says once the scheme is finished, he's sure drivers will get used to them.
