The police have released a statement addressing rumours of "tensions circulating" around Ramsey this afternoon.
They assured the public that the situation has been assessed, and that police continue to work with schools and communities "to address any concerns".
No further details have been provided but the Constabulary says it does not consider there to be a threat to any particular school or the general public.
However, an increased police presence is being deployed in the town to provide reassurance.
