Better facilities for women means changes at Douglas Fire Station.
The Department of Home Affairs has applied for planning permission to put a new door at the back of the building on Peel Road.
In its application, the department says it wants to expand the size of the female dormitory and shower facilities.
It says for operational reasons it would want the extra entrance to give direct access the women's showers.
