Old buses bring in £224,000 for government

12 new buses like this one will be delivered to the Island

It has been revealed that selling old buses has generated £224,000 for the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

In the last financial year the department has sold 11 old double-decker buses, for £20,000 a piece, and four single-decker buses for £1,000 each.

The figures were revealed in Tynwald today (Tuesday) following a question from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft.

Department Minister Tim Crookall also confirmed that the Island would take delivery of 12 new single-decker Mercedes Benz buses – the same type as the ones delivered last summer.
