New international challenge for Manx football

The Isle of Man national team will take place in a new international event in Gibraltar this summer.

It was confirmed today that the Island will play against Jersey, Guernsey and the hosts in June.

The competition has been officially named the FA International Shield Tournament and will take place every two years with the next one scheduled for Guernsey in 2014.

Chief executive of the IoMFA Frank Stennett said the time had come to see just how far the national side can go (see audio).
