New Chief Minister by the end of today

The first job at hand for next Chief Minister will be to identify a Council of Ministers

The process of selecting a new Chief Minister for the Isle of Man will enter its final stage today, with an MHK to be elected into the role in today's sitting of Tynwald.

As it stands Tynwald have the choice of voting for Ramsey MHK and Economic Development Minister, Allan Bell, or head of Liberal Vannin and Onchan representative, Peter Karran.

The first job at hand for whoever is successful will be to identify a council of ministers, seeking approval with those MHK’s suitable to head up Departments.

Liberal Vannin leader Peter Karran says if he gets elected he will work with Tynwald members to achieve the caring and prosperous society that the Isle of Man deserves.

In his statement Allan Bell speaks of the importance of stimulating further economic activity on the Island, particularly protecting the Island’s 0/10% corporate tax structure.

Speaking to 3FM the Ramsey MHK said the prospect of being voted into the top job is one that he finds both daunting and exciting.
