Murder Trial: Alleged murderer gives evidence

46-year-old Ian Anderson has begun giving evidence in court - he stands accused of murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts from Ballabeg. 

 

The 60-year-old gardener was found dead at Anderson's home on Queen Street in the early hours of December 1st 2013. 

 

Taking to the stand he outlined his childhood, education and employment history - telling jurors he moved to the Island, from Solihull, in January 2012 for a job with the Ronaldsway Aircraft Company. 

 

Anderson told jurors he used to socialise after work on a Friday in the Glue Pot pub in Castletown - he first met Mr Roberts here in May. 

 

After their first meeting - where he lent him £20 - Anderson said Mr Roberts "just seemed to turn up all the time and make a beeline for me". 

 

Anderson denies murder - the trial continues.
