More traffic calming could be brought in if signs alone don't slow motorists in new 20mph zones.
That's according to Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood, who faced questions in the House of Keys from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
She said although it would be cheapest to enforce limits with signs, things like speed bumps and chicanes could be considered.
However, the minister said both types of scheme could improve safety:
