A decision to look at outsourcing care provision for the elderly has been branded short sighted, spiteful and discriminatory.
That’s the view of North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson who has slammed the Department of Social Care’s proposals.
He says government is providing a message of ‘cold comfort’ to the older generation and he fears for staff and residents.
He’s also concerned over standards of care if the department externalises home care, disability services and resource centres.
Mr Henderson says this isn’t how cost savings should be found:
