MEA bringing in 1.5% pay increase for workers

Wage bump only possible following major saving exercise

The MEA has confirmed to 3FM that employees will be receiving a wage increase equating to 1.5%

An MEA spokesperson has refuted claims that the recent Post Office increase was the catalyst for the move, saying they are constantly keeping on top of their expenditure and seeing where savings can be made.

The increase has only been made possible following a staff initiative to find major savings, utilising workers from the grass roots to the top.

It comes about following a year of no pay increases.

The pay hike will be effective from 1st April 2011.
