Manx students impress in NASA challenge

Seven Manx high school teams have made it through to the semi-finals of a major competition in America.

The Spirit of Innovation Challenge requires students to submit innovative ideas to help solve real-world problems.

The high school teams have to use a combination of science, engineering and maths skills to design and develop new technology and products.

A total of 81 teams have made it through to the semi-finals.

The director of the global competition said this spoke volumes about the Isle of Man and its young people.

The Manx teams hail from Ballakermeen, QEII and St Ninian’s.

They will now take their idea one step further and vie for one of the top 15 finalist positions, which will qualify them to advance to the Innovation Summit, hosted at NASA in California.
