Man who harassed ex-girlfriend remanded in custody

By Jason Roberts - Court Reporter

A stalker who breached his bail by sending dozens of messages to his victim has been remanded in custody.

Thomas Lee Parsons of Empress Drive in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

The 22 year old denied breaching a bail condition imposed by magistrates after he admitted harassing his ex-girlfriend between July 25 and August 21.

Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the hearing Parsons sent dozens of Snapchat messages and a video to the woman just two days later.

Included in the messages were pleas asking her not to contact police, fake messages from Parsons’ UK family blaming her for his conviction and “snitches get stitches”.

Parsons claimed he had no internet access after police seized his phone, adding somebody who knew his family details and personal circumstances had sent the messages to get him in trouble.

He was warned about what Mrs Hughes called “histrionic” behaviour in the dock as his victim gave evidence against him.

And when Mrs Hughes said she’d found he had breached his bail and remanded him in custody until his sentencing on September 6, Parsons began shouting and swearing as he was led away by security staff.
