Man treated for smoke inhalation after chip pan fire

A man was treated for smoke inhalation on Saturday evening following a chip pan fire at his flat.

Fire crews were called to Christian Road just after 6.30pm after a call from the man to say he had put out the blaze.

On arrival firefighters were faced with a large amount of smoke logging and had to ventilate the property.

An ambulance crew was called to administer first aid and oxygen therapy to the man at the scene.

The fire service has reiterated that chip pans should be replaced with deep fat fryers.
