Police have named the man who was killed after a wall collapsed in Peel yesterday morning.
He was 52 year old Peel resident John Lawrence Gell who was also known as Lude.
Mr Gell was working for the Water and Sewerage Authority carrying out excavation work near to the former Creg Malin Hotel site when the incident happened.
The Water and Sewerage Authority described it as a 'very tragic and unfortunate accident' which happened as he was replacing a water supply pipe.
Health and safety officials and the emergency services spent much of yesterday on site as investigations into the incident continue.
