A 20 year old Douglas man who brandished a corkscrew at clubgoers and door staff has been ordered to do 240 hours community service as a direct alternative to prison.
Steven Rooney of Stanley Terrace admitted affray and possessing an offensive weapon when he appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes this week.
Douglas Courthouse heard he was extremely drunk when he got into an altercation outside Bordello on Douglas Promenade in the early hours of November 4.
The court heard he was so drunk after a night out in Guys and Dolls he couldn't remember the incident or explain why he was carrying the corkscrew and a cheese knife.
Mark Benson, prosecuting, said "He hadn't been to a cheese and wine evening".
Mrs Hughes also ordered Rooney to pay £125 costs and banned him from licensed premises for six months.
