A motorcycle rider from Ramsey died from massive blunt force trauma after he hit a wall at high speed.
46-year-old Gary Carswell was pronounced dead at Noble's Hospital on Saturday, April 11th after an incident at Jurby Motodrome.
The civil engineer had been taking part in a practice session when he hit the wall and stopped breathing.
A post-mortem showed he had suffered multiple injuries predominantly to his thorax.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham opened his inquest this morning - adjourning it to a date to be fixed.
Mr Carswell's body has now been released to his family so funeral arrangements can take place.
