Isle of Man too small for two casinos, says Sefton Group

\'...no realistic prospect of two operating profitably.\'

The Sefton Group has spoken out against plans to bring in a second casino to the Isle of Man.

The thrust of their argument is that there is currently no need or necessity for such a facility.

They have highlighted that the average UK casino has a catchment population of nearly 400,000.

To underpin their argument further they refer to Blackpool, a town with a population of 140,000 and 1.5 million visitors per year, that only has two operating casinos.

The Isle of Man has hosted a casino for the past 45 years, Sefton say there is no realistic prospect of two operating profitably.

The group who own the Palace hotel and casino will be asking the Government to reconsider their approach and undertake financial due diligence before proceeding further.
