Island 'safest place to live in British Isles'

Recorded levels of crime have continued to fall taking figures to a 30-year low.

There have been substantial reductions across all neighbourhood policing areas, representing a drop of 15.8 per cent.

The overall detection rate from March 2012 to April of this year stands at less than 50 per cent, which remains much higher than the figures registered by police forces in England and Wales.

An independent survey also established that confidence in the force is high, with 92 per cent of those who took part saying they were satisfied with the performance.
