International awards for QEII students

A group of students from QEII High School have been in Sweden accepting a series of landmark awards from the United Nations.

The team consisted of Moira Pain, Rachael Harrop, Alex Eaton, Colin Bankes-Jones and Tom Anderson represented the Isle of Man in a series of projects that have now received international recognition.

They travelled to Gothenburg to compete against 10 international finalists in the 2012 Volvo Adventure Awards organised in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme.

In total, 245 teams from 45 countries entered the competition.

Earlier, 16-year-old Moira Pain spoke to the station and told us more about the team’s impressive new accolade (see audio).
