'Immediate risks' identified in women and children's healthcare

Medical staff working in Women's and Children's Services on the Isle of Man are under "severe pressure".

That's the finding of the West Midlands Quality Review Service which vetted the area as part of a comprehensive look at the Island's Health Service: 
 
 
Among the concerns identified were a lack of training for midwives, no clear strategy, 'poor' infection control and problems with waiting times for young people with mental health problems.
 
Reviewers also found staff didn't have up-to-date, or appropriate, training in neonatal life support - something Minister Howard Quayle says has been addressed:
