Onchan MHK Julie Edge wants to know how many Island-based retailers register their online sales in the UK to use Stripe for payments.
In its reply, Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston said the Department doesn't have data on numbers or the economic impact.
He added any tax loss is likely minimal, but limited access to payment providers may increase business costs and restrict opportunities.
Stripe isn't currently available on the Island, but the government offers a Global Digital Access initiative, helping businesses with Etsy Payments, Google App Development access and PayPal.
