Firefighters were called out to a house in Douglas yesterday after a halogen heater set fire to a carpet.
The incident happened shortly after 1.30am at a house in Mountain View.
Firefighters put out the blaze which had taken hold in the living room, and ventilated the building which suffered extensive smoke damage.
The householder was taken to Noble's Hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation, and was kept in overnight for observation.
