The government says it now plans to raise the minimum wage in April by five percent instead of 9.9 percent.
That means the rate would increase to £12.86, instead of the previously proposed £13.46.
Chief Minister Alf Cannan made the announcement in Tynwald this morning, Tuesday, January 20.
He said it was about what local businesses could afford:
