Government keeping close eye on Scotland

The Chief Minister has said the government will keep a close eye on Scotland's ambitions to lower its corporate tax, if the country gains independence.

This week it was confirmed that the Isle of Man's closest neighbour will hold a referendum on complete independence from the UK in the autumn of 2014.

Allan Bell admitted that First Minister Alex Salmond has expressed an interest in the Island's zero 10 tax strategy and Scotland could well enter in to direct competition with the Island in this area.

However, Mr Bell said it was important to focus on the present:
